REIKI – USUI System of Healing

What is Reiki?

“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing, This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.

When someone asks me what Reiki is I like to explain it in a simplistic way that I believe most people can understand. I explain Reiki as an energy force and because as humans we are an energy and everything around us is based on and runs on energy, then Reiki helps to energise or de-energise, help or heal any deficiencies in our human energy system that require it. So when someone has had surgery or is suffering from disease or ailment then the energy and life force of Reiki enables our body to accelerate the healing process or to remove the pain associated with disease or other ailments.

There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki treatments can help the body emotionally, spiritually or psychologically. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system.

Reiki treatment is a process that anyone can enjoy in the normal course of their life. Reiki can be used alongside other conventional or complementary or holistic treatment and often helps to provide emotional and psychological support during recovery.

The Reiki Principles
Just for today do not worry,
Just for today do not anger,
Honour your parents, teachers and elders,
Earn your living honestly,
Show gratitude to every living thing.

Reiki treatment.

Reiki treatment can vary from person to person. The way I like to work is by using a hands off approach as I find this works best for all of the patients I have treated so far. Every person is different and so therefore as the Reiki practitioner it is part of my initial process is to learn how each person except the Reiki for themselves. Reiki is not a diagnosis for any particular ailment. While I am performing Reiki on any person there are areas that I feel that need more Reiki energy than other areas. When this happens then I will spend more time focusing the energy required for the patient in that area.

Feedback that I have received from patients who I work on for Reiki is nearly always different but the most common feedback comments that I get are that people feel very relaxed, that they can feel really warm, that they’ve drifted off into a meditative state, that they immediately get pain relief, that they feel completely calm and that they feel completely at peace within themselves. Some people feel a heat sensation and some people feel a cold sensation during or after the Reiki session.

I can give Reiki sessions while you are sitting in a comfortable chair at home or in an office environment, or I can provide my own therapy stools and I also have a therapy table. It all depends on how you as the patient feels more comfortable.
