NLP/Psychotherapy

Namaste

Lets start with definitions. Both of these definitions have come from Wikipedia which I think sum up the technical stuff of NLP and Pschotherapy very well.

NLP: Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States in the 1970s. NLP’s creators claim there is a connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life.[1][2] Bandler and Grinder also claim that NLP methodology can “model” the skills of exceptional people, allowing anyone to acquire those skills.[3][4] They claim as well that, often in a single session, NLP can treat problems such as phobias, depression, tic disorders, psychosomatic illnesses, near-sightedness,[5] allergy, common cold,[6] and learning disorders.

PSYCHOTHERAPY: Psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods, particularly when based on regular personal interaction, to help a person change and overcome problems in desired ways. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual’s well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills.

Now that’s the technical bit over with, how does this help you. Lets start with a bit of history.

Well, since 1999 I started my first foray into the professional realm of psychology starting with a Centaur Psychology based course in management at Cranfield University. A year later after getting my diploma at Cranfield Univeristy I attended an advanced Centaur Pschology/Management course which was hosted and run by Andy Logan. In 2001/2 I started a personal two year therapy process with Anne-Marie Halliwell (deceased)  of CMCG Consultancy which then later lead to me, in 2004, completing my NLP Practitioner Course with CMCG Consultancy. In 2007 I completed my NLP Master Practioner course with CMCG Consultancy.  To the present day I have been a practicing NLP Therapist, learning every day.

NLP is about communication. Communication withing yourself (internal dialogue) and others (external dialogue). NLP techniques can be used to change how we perceive ourselves and our surroundings. We can help change habits, understand how people think and behave before even interacting with them, observe our own state of being and feelings when events happen to us or when we experiance things and learn how to change our language to make effective changes in the way we communicate with others.

Our method of using NLP can be summed up as:

  1. The difference that makes the difference
  2. Helping you to help yourself
  3. Helping you to make sense of and sort out your world

We look forward to working with you on what you would like to learn about yourself or what you would like to change to make things better for yourself. You have resources inside of you, we just help you to learn how to bring them out and use them for yourself.
